A Modern Day Love Story … Firmly Real and Slightly Magical

GLENDALE, Ariz. — “Why don’t you write a love story?” With that simple question, a modern-day contemporary romance novel was launched.

“Where the Campaign Ends” is the debut novel of J.P. Dalton, who has called the Phoenix area his home for more than four decades.

“My goal was to create compelling characters that will resonate with readers and place them in settings that have meant a great deal to me,” Dalton said. “It was a joy sharing my favorite locations both here in Phoenix and in Del Mar, California. This, simply put, is the love story my wife asked me to write to her.”

The book follows Ryan Williams, an Arizona-based political consultant, who suffers a heart attack on election night and tries to piece together his life and career after. He travels to Del Mar, California, and meets Maggie Roberson, a yoga instructor with her own tragic past. What started as simple attraction turns into a relationship neither could anticipate. But will love be enough for someone whose career has been spent in the high-pressure arena of politics?

J.P. Dalton started his writing career with the Mesa Tribune at age 16 and has been active for the past 32 years. He has byline credits in more than two dozen newspapers and magazines across the country and on the Associated Press wire service.

What readers have said about “Where the Campaign Ends”:

“Living in Arizona and knowing the places the author spoke about, you felt you were with him every step of the way!! In California he brought you to the ocean with its calm and rough tides and how you can express yourself with no timidity.”

“J.P. Dalton skillfully weaves their lives into a story that works with internal struggles and evolving love.”

“He lets the reader glimpse the gears inside a political campaign without slipping into cynicism, and expresses a fondness for the familiar places and discovered landscapes (and seascapes) that can frame and anchor our lives and our choices.”

“Where the Campaign Ends” is available on Amazon.Com and Barnes and Noble.com. Learn more about J.P. Dalton at JPDaltonBooks.com, on Facebook at Facebook.com/jpdaltonbooks or on Instagram at JPDaltonAZ.
